Shares of automobile and related companies were in demand in Monday s session with Nifty Auto index hitting an over two-year high, up more than 2 per cent, on expectation of double-digit earnings growth in the October-December quarter (Q3FY21), aided by robust volumes. At 02:20 pm, Nifty Auto index was up 2.14 per cent at 9,950 as compared to a 0.79-per cent rise in the Nifty50 index. The auto index hit an intra-day high of 9,970, its highest level since September 27, 2018. Thus far in the month of January 2021, the Nifty Auto index has outperformed the market by surging 8 per cent as compared to a 3.4-per cent rise in the Nifty50 index.

The company’s domestic two-wheeler sales grew by 13%
TVS Motor Company reported a 20 per cent increase in its two-wheeler sales at 2,58,239 units in December 2020 as against 2,15,619 units in December 2019.
The company’s domestic two-wheeler sales grew by 13 per cent registering 1,76,912 units in December 2020 as against 1,57,244 units in December 2019.
Motorcycles grew by 27 per cent at 119,051 units in December 2020 as against 93,697 units in December 2019. Scooter sales grew to 77,705 units from 74,716 units.
Three-wheeler volumes of the company dropped to 13,845 units in December 2020 as against 15,952 units in December 2019.
The company’s two-wheeler exports registered a growth of 39 per cent at 81,327 units in December 2020 as against 58,375 units in December 2019.

TVS Motor Company NSE 1.19 % on Saturday reported a 17.5 per cent increase in total sales to 2,72,084 units in December.
The company, which primarily makes two-wheelers and three-wheelers, had sold 2,31,571 units in December 2019, TVS Motor Company said in a statement.
The total two-wheeler sales during the month stood at 2,58,239 units as against 2,15,619 in December 2019, up 20 per cent.
The domestic two-wheeler sales stood at 1,76,912 units last month, as compared to 1,57,244 units in December, up 13 per cent, it added.
